Silver Falls State Park
Known as the "crown jewel" of the Oregon State Parks system, Silver Falls State Park is a sprawling 9,200-acre scenic treasure featuring the famous Trail of Ten Falls.
The story
Nestled in the foothills of Oregon’s Cascade Mountains near Salem, Silver Falls State Park is the largest state park in Oregon. Its standout attraction is the Trail of Ten Falls, a spectacular 7.2-mile moderate loop trail that weaves through a dense forest and passes ten breathtaking waterfalls, including the famous 177-foot South Falls which visitors can walk behind. The park also features over 25 miles of backcountry trails for mountain biking, hiking, or horseback riding. Day-use areas provide picnic shelters, a playground, horseshoe pits, an off-leash dog area, and a Nature Play Area for kids. Overnight options include a campground with tent sites, RV spots, cabins, and a horse campground, alongside the Smith Creek Village retreat center.
